Message editor

The editor sanitizes formatting on the server before a draft or message is stored. HTML is rendered in a restricted viewer; scripts and remote content are never allowed.
Sending identities
Choose which verified addresses can appear in the From line. Your primary account and organization aliases are managed by IT.
Mail forwarding
Forward incoming mail to another address. Forwarding is applied by Dovecot Sieve before your other rules.
Delivery
Choose which signals reach this device.
Preferences are stored in PostgreSQL. Desktop alerts require browser notification permission; sound and calendar reminders always fall back to an in-app notice.
Language & region
Controls dates, times, numbers, scheduled sends and calendar labels across the workspace.

Schedule send uses these hours to recommend a delivery time and warn about quiet hours.

Sign-in protection
Two-factor authentication is required for password sign-in. SSO is handled by Alt8Mail.
Second-factor setup
Enroll an authenticator app or a WebAuthn passkey. Secrets are encrypted at rest; recovery codes are hashed.
App passwords
Use a revocable app password for CalDAV/CardDAV clients that cannot complete two-factor sign-in. Tokens are shown once; expired and revoked entries remain in your security history.
First-time sign-in policy
Require an unenrolled user to set up a second factor before the mailbox opens.

Alt8Mail brings your inbox, calendar, tasks and files together in one focused workspace. AI assistance helps you summarize long conversations, draft a reply in your own voice, translate messages and surface what needs attention — without sending your mail anywhere it should not go. Advanced security runs quietly in the background: passkeys and two-factor sign-in, phishing and impersonation checks, SPF/DKIM/DMARC verification, attachment scanning, encrypted transport, server-side rules and a complete audit trail.
Connect another email client
Use these settings in Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird or any standard IMAP, POP3 or SMTP client.
- Add an account. In your email app choose Add account → Other (or IMAP), then enter your name and full Alt8Mail address.
- Choose the protocol. IMAP is recommended so folders and read state stay in sync across devices. Choose POP3 only if you deliberately want mail downloaded to one device.
- Enter the server details. Use your full email address as the username and your normal mailbox password. Turn on SSL/TLS and require authentication for outgoing mail.
- Using two-factor authentication? Create an app password in Settings → Security & privacy and use that instead of your sign-in password.
- Test both directions. Send a message to another address and ask for a reply. If sending fails, confirm that your network allows outbound SMTP on port 587.
Use the full email address as the username. Your administrator can confirm the exact hostname if your organization uses a custom mail domain.
